Procedure for removing McAfee 30 day Trial security software

Hi,

Will be receiving a Inspiron 15R shortly. I am looking for the best way of uninstalling the 30 day McAfee trial software. Just don't like McAfee it seems to be constantly doing something when I used a friends dell inspiron 1501.

Does the software have to be activated/registered before uninstalling? If you could provide detailed steps that would be appreciated..

Thanks in advance for any helpful hints you can provide

con1link,

You can go into the add/remove programs and uninstall the program if you do not use this software.

And if you're going to uninstall McAfee, be sure to install some other antiviral / antimalware software after McAfee is removed. Don't run unprotected.

After removing McAfee in Add/Remove Programs (= "Program Features" in Win 7), as Jesse said, you should run the free McAfee removal tool to clean out all the bits and pieces of junk that will be left behind. You can download mcpr.exe from McAfee here.

Download and save mcpr.exe on your desktop and then run it. But don't run it before you remove McAfee in Add/Remove Programs (Program Features).
