DVD-ROM will read DVDs but not CD-ROMs
Hi there,
I've got a Dimension 2350 which is using a Samsung SD-616E and the drive will read DVDs and music CDs but not CD-ROMs is there something I can do to fix this or do I need a new drive?
If I do need a new drive, are there any suggested types that are compatable with my Dell, or does that matter?

Hi
You are not alone, I have exactly the same problem using a Dimension 3100 using a HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GWA4164B.
Can anyone help?

Try a few other CDRW and CDR, if none of it work, it's time to call Dell.

Tried that, still no joy - so i gave up went to PC World and bought a new LG multi Dvd rewriter for £24.99.
It took me 10 minutes to fit and all works fine. I can only assume that these rewriters have a limited life span!
Thanks anyway.

Just curious, how long have you been using that writer/PC?

Hi, had the whole lot about 2 and a half years and have barely used the writer.
