Dell bootable restore image to a new SSD
I have a dell latitude E5420. I want to put in a new SSD (Intel 520 drive) and do a clean factory restore to that drive (not clone).
If I create a bootable factory.wim restore image using the Dell File Backup and Recovery utility. I assume I can put the new SSD in the laptop, boot off the restore USB and restore the image to the new SSD.
What I'm not sure about is whether I need to format the SSD prior to doing the image restore?

The restore process will take care of formatting the drive.

Thanks ejn63,
Lastly since this is an SSD, do I need to do anything after the fact regarding enabling trim on the SSD or 4K alignment? I'm a bit new to dealing with solid state drives. I always hear it mentioned that you want trim enabled and correct 4K alignment.

No special need for WIndows 7 and up - only for OSes that don't support TRIM or 4K alignment (XP and older) are those considerations.
