Missing cd/dvd software/driver on Dell Inspiron 660s

Tried using it today for the first time in quite sometime. It would not open. Got it open manually but it doesn't work. Can't not see it at all. Cannot find it at all in devices. Went to support but they want $89-$129 to help me. I remember a similar problem several years ago on different computer but cannot remember how I fixed it. Any ideas how to reinstall software/drivers?
