My Samsung M.2 drive mysteriously disappeared

I had a working SAMSUNG 970 EVO Plus SSD 2TB - M.2 NVMe drive in my Precision 7730 and all of a sudden it's gone. I can't see it in Device Manager or Disk Manager. However I do see it in the BIOS. I tried to install the driver (Samsung NVM Express Driver v3.3) but it tells me "Samsung NVM Express Device is not connected. Connect the device and try again."

The drive basically just stopped working while my machine was running. I was not writing to the disk afaik... it was just serving readonly media files for a web application, and I was not uploading to it.

Any ideas? Did the drive just go bunk?
