Recovering from an HDD failure

The hard drive on my wife's Inspiron 6000 died. A friend was able to recover most (all?) the data including the hidden "recovery" partition and write them to another drive. Once I install a new drive in the laptop, is there some way to get that hidden partition onto the new drive so that I can recover the system?

The restore partition is, I think, a Ghost image file.  Look at Dan Goodell's page to learn more:  Inside the Dell PC Restore Partition.  If it is, you would still need a copy of the Ghost program in order to restore it.  I don't believe there is a way to make it work as it did on the original hard drive.

If you don't have the Windows reinstallation disk, you should try this form and ask for it:  Dell Replacement Disks.
