Retro-fit a Solid State drive to an Inspiron 17 7000 laptop? (and keep the existing HD in there too?)
Hi
Is it possible to ADD a SS HD to this laptop (and ideally keep the existing 1Tb drive too for storage)
thanks in advance

Hi EdwardJohnAllen,
I need the exact model. There's an Inspiron model 7000 (very old model), and there are several Inspiron 17 models but I don't see an Inspiron 17 7000.

From a performance standpoint, you'd be better off replacing the hard drive with the SSD and moving that to the caddy.
The optical drive is likely attached to a 3G SATA connection, while the HDD/SSD is attached to a 6G.

There might be a different case here as I am not talking laptops but servers here, but sharing my recent upgrade with DELL hard drive.
Recently I have upgraded to Dell 600GB 10K RPM SAS-12GBPS 2.5Inch In 3.5inch Hybrid Carrier Hot-Plug Hard Drive With Hybrid Tray For Poweredge And Powervault Server.
Sharing specs of my hard disk drive with hybrid tray, its not a recommendation, just for information.
Tray For Poweredge And Powervault Server.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
Manufacturer : Dell
Manufacturer Part Number : 591T9
Dell Part Number : 400-AJPE
Product Name : Hard Drive-Hybrid
Technical Information:
Storage Capacity : 600GB
Rotational Speed : 10K RPM
Data Transfer Rate: 1200 MBPS External
Interfaces/Ports : Serial Attached SCSI
Form Factor : 2.5 Inch (In 3.5inch Hybrid Carr)
Enclosure : Internal
Interfaces : 1 X SAS 12GB/S
Compatible Bays : 1 X Hotplug- 2.5inch
Despite the tremendous growth rate of hard disk drives, there are HDD hybrid trays that will fit their needs. Users will find hard drive hybrid trays that allow the installation of a wide range of hard drive types, including SAS-12Gbps, SAS-6Gbps, and SATA-6Gbps.
You can take a look and for buying any tech gadget always consult an expert or you can talk to the live chat support agent as well. I have been buying from hard disk drives from multiple locations, and have always found DELL hdd tray drives a good option.
