just installed a SSD vertex 4 in my precision m6400 - pathetic performance improvement

in fact i have not noticed any performance improbement at all in terms of application start up time. windows still takes a while to start, about the same as on the 7200rpm drive.  apps take the same amoun tof time to open. what gives? file transfers are indeed faster from an external ssd to my internal ssd. the ssd i installed BTW is my os drive. my media and data drive is still a 500GB 7200 rpm drive.

i was expecitng a performace improvement with application loading times.

any ideas?

i need to add more information to the above. i installed an image onto the ssd from my previous drive. i do NOT want to reinstall everything. my image is around 130GB. A reinstall is not an option. i have too many apps and presets etc for it to be worth it.

The reinstall will clean out the registry - which is likely clogged with too much.  If you want the performance, reload Windows.
