Installshield from Macrovision/Should I uninstall it?

I see the following lines in the startup related to Installshield: ISUSPM.exe
and issch.exe. I searched the Net and it seems to be software related to
Macrovision. I looked for it in the Program list and in Add/Remove Programs
(Control Panel) and it is not listed. There's only a "Program Updates" icon
in Control Panel belonging to Installshield. My question is: Is this software
essential to WinXP proper functioning? If not, how can I uninstall it? Thanks.

ISUSPM.exe and issch.exe

"InstallShield Update Service Scheduler.
Automatically searches for and performs any updates to the software so you’re always working with the most current version"

According to Paul Collins (aka PacMan  http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_index.htm ), neither is required at startup.
I have disabled both on every PC I use, and have not noticed any adverse effects.

(These can be disabled using a "startup manager", such as MSCONFIG, or WinPatrol....)
