McAfee will not register
Hello
I have brand new inspiron 1520 which comes with the usual 30 day free subscription to McAfee. I have tried to register an account (with McAfee) to allow updates but once I have completed the registration form and submitted it I just get a blank pop up window and nothing happens. I have tried registering direct at the McAfee site but my account just shows that I have no products registered.
Does anyone know a way around this?
Thanks
LPJC

Sorry, not much to add apart from I am having the same problem. Also with a brand new inspiron, but 1525.
I have the same symptoms when trying to register McAfee.

Try this ...
Disable the option for Internet Explorer to check for server Certificate revocation
IMPORTANT: The workaround below is only temporary. It must be reversed after successful installation.
- Click Start, All Programs, Internet Explorer.
- Click Tools, Internet Options.
- Select the Advanced Tab.
- Navigate to the security section and deselect Check for server Certificate revocation.
- Click Apply to save the changes and test.

While this "solution" may "work" (i.e., get the job done), I think we have to question WHY?!
Are we to infer that McAfee has an invalid/revoked certificate, and that by disabling a check for revocation --- in essence, LOWERING one's security, and increasing the likelihood of fraudulent spoofing --- we bypass this security feature, and thereby "get to" the McAfee site??
something seems very wrong with that....
