Can't Reinstall Dell Backup and Recovery from support centre

Hi

Have new Inspiron 3521. Upgraded to Windows 8.1 before creating back-up discs. Now when I am trying to create back-up, get message:

Reinstall Dell Backup and Recovery

To use Dell Backup and Recovery with this version of Windows, you must reinstall it using the original installation media or download files. If you're unable to locate the media or files, contact Dell, the manufacturer of Dell Backup and Recovery for more info.

Can't access them from support centre - only lists updates, not original drivers (I have already installed them). When I try to do a scan for drivers, it never completes (leave it on for hours).

Can anyone help? Thanks.

  2. Enter control panel in the search box, and then tap or click Control Panel.
  3. Under View by:, select Large Icons, and then tap or click Programs and features.
  4. Tap or click the program, and then tap or click Uninstall.
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen.

Hi, Dell-Geoffrey R This totally sorted the problem (in the mean time, Dell are sending me a data key). Have now made a post-windows 8.1 back-up. I realised, also, that the reason I couldn't download from Dell is that I was accessing through Google Chrome instead of Internet Explorer. Going through explorer, now have access to back-up files, and managed to run full diagnostic and all working perfectly. Thanks so much for your help.

Hi Debsdell,

I see that you are in contact with the Dell Representative, who is sending the factory restore USB key,

Please reply as if you have any further queries.
