Swap out HDD for SSD?
I just purchased an Alienware 17 R2. I added in 2 years of support and 2 years of accidental damage.
I am thinking swapping out the secondary HDD for a comparable SSD, but I have a few questions...
The most obvious being, will that change void either of the warranties?
The second question is the value of the change. I know the speed should increase, but that's not a huge concern (the secondary drive is mostly resource files and such, not accessed regularly). The value I am considering is...
1. Reduction in the heat production.
2. Reduction in the power usage.
3. Better reliability of the SSD during travel.
Any thoughts? I am led to believe that 1 and 2 would be a minimal impact. And that 3, barring a catastrophic event that would have bigger effect on other items (like the screen), is minimal as well.
