I recently upgraded my Charter High Speed internet connection from 3.0 mbps to 5.0 mbps. Since then the highest reading received on speed tests is 3.14 mbps. Charter tech ran cmb check with "netstat -a". It showed 31 TCPs, some of which were established, waiting, listening, etc. The tech said that was far too many TCPs. She said 5 or 6 TCPs are the maximum to achieve the higher internet speed. I run Norton Security along with other spyware and adware prevention programs, so I don't believe they are viruses. An example is a TCP identified as "theplanet.com". How it got there I don't know. What it does, I don't know.

Bottom line: How do I cut the number of TCPs, or is there another solution to boost that internet speed from 3.0 to 5.0 mbps? Needless to say, my computer knowledge is limited. All suggestions appreciated.
