Alienware 610M Wheel Skipping

I bought my mouse separately from my laptop last September but after only 6 months of owning it, the scroll wheel started skipping and it's driving me nuts. There didn't seem to be any way of registering it via the Dell Support UK site at the time so I'm not sure it even has a warranty anymore. 

Can anybody help me with how to proceed, if that is in fact at all possible with a mouse.
