I think the issue is that my Dell Wireless 1550 Wi-Fi Driver is not showing up in my driver list (in device manager)

Correct.
If the WiFi card hardware itself is NOT showing in Device-Manager (either as itself or "unknown device" in error), then ...
You have a hardware problem.
You can try removing and "re-seating" the WiFi card (if you are familiar with working inside machines).

remove the wifi card
toss it into the trash
plug 802.11AC usb adapter
done
