m18 R2, BIOS, I'm a bit scared

Hello. I uninstalled Norton, and the last step was letting it restart my laptop (m18 r2). Then when I did this I got hit with a BIOS update. I have never, in decades of computing, had a BIOS update pushed-in fact I've only ever done it once and that was manual. Should I be worried that Norton did something fishy? How can I tell if this BIOS is an official update? Thank you.

You can use your Service Tag on the Support page to find all the drivers available for your system. You can check the BIOS version from here and compare it to the one you got pushed.

I highly doubt that it's anything to do with Norton. Unfortunately, pushed BIOS updates are a thing these days which is a terrible way to go, in my opinion.

BIOS Version 1.8.0 released 4 October 2024 and BIOS updates can be pushed both by Windows Update and SupportAssist. I suspect this was a WU Push.
