Clariion FAST pool

Greetings All,

javascript:;

tiering issue.JPG.jpg

Today a customer of mine brought the following condition to my notice. Please check attachment.

Why are the SATA disks "not applicable ? We have certain LUNs with a specified policy of using the lowest tier, but they too use FC as the lowest tier, and not SATA.

Regards,

Naleendra

it looks like to me that you have plenty of available space in the first 2 tiers so it tries to keep data in the highest possible tier available.

When you first create a Pool and configure LUNs, the Auto-Tier Policy setting is by default HIGH:Auto. All data that you put into a LUN will first fill up the top tiers, then over time, will migrate down to the lower tiers. You may just need to wait a bit, it can take a couple of weeks or more for the data to settle into the correct tier, once you have reached a steady state.

Check the LUN Properties to ensure that the Policy is not set to HIGH.
