Brocade Data Center Fabric Manager Professional: any thoughts ?

As a test I recently installed DCFM to see what it does, since in 3 weeks we're going to firmware 6.1.1 and I'd like to know what functionality is being moved from webtools to DCFM.

I found out that I can only manage 1 fabric in the free version ! What ? Do I have to buy ther enterprise version to be able to do the same thing I can now already do using webtools ?

Does anyone have any experience with this new tool ?

Hi,

I`ve tested DCFM Pro and you are rigth that you only can manage 1 Fabric with professional edition. I remember a mail by brocade sales that same features are transfered from web tools to DCFM starting by 6.1.1. I think there is a guide called "WebTools on Fabric OS v6.1.1 ReadMe Frist" where all features are listed that are no longer available to Web Tools. And also in release notes 6.1.1a there is a chapter on page 19 called "Web Tools Functionality Moved to DCFM ".

http://community.brocade.com/home/servlet/JiveServlet/download/7051-1672/v6.1.1a_releasenotes_v1.0.pdf

For example FCIP and GbE port configuration could now only be done by DCFM or by cli commands. So why I tested DCFM. But we have only one Backbone FCIP fabric which consists of three BRC 7500.

I hope I could help you a little bit.

Regards,
Andreas

Thanks for the reply and sorry for the late answer (summer holidays).

I've heard rumours that Brocade will present some sort of an intermediate DCFM which will be able to manage 4 fabrics.
