DDVE and DIA
Is there any difference in Data Domain Invulnerability Architecture (DIA) on a physical DD versus a virtual DD? For example, read-after-write to disk and FS recovery? I'd appreciate a detailed response. Differences will help justify physical DD costs. Thank you.

The only difference would been your underlying storage. The DIA process is followed the same as the DDOS running on DDVE is the same code.
