question connection data domain to ibm i

We have ibm I (AS400)  Servers connected to Data Domain servers using fiber connection.    This was best thing we even did.   We are planning to install additional Data Domain servers.     I was asked if the IBM i (AS400) could connect to the Data Domain server using Ethernet.        If it can,  do  you know where I could get instruction on how to configure AS400?       Does AS400 Ethernet connections support VTL?
