DDPE 8.18 Windows 10 1803 update
So I am testing the new May 2018 update for DDPE, version 8.18. Are there any best practices yet for this? The best practices info has not been updated to reflect the new version. I have tried to update once without needing to run the WSPROBE-Z and so far not having any luck. Trying again to see it will work. Any suggestions on a successful upgrade process?

Hi donnarohrig!
We are currently finishing up some final touches on the Windows 10 Upgrade best practices article for the changes that have come to Windows 10 version 1803 (April 2018 Update), and Dell Encryption 8.18.
For the Dell Encryption 8.18 revision, when updating to 1803 or later, no action is needed.
We have worked with Microsoft to ensure that the process is as smooth as possible going forward. When going through a Windows Feature Update starting with 1803, the Dell Encryption application will receive information from the Windows Update process to allow the determination if the version of Dell Encryption and the installing Windows Feature Update are compatible. If the two versions are compatible, Dell Encryption will prepare itself for the upgrade, with no interaction needed. If the two versions are not compatible, Dell Encryption will prompt stating that these versions are not compatible, and an upgrade may be needed.
If you are seeing issues with the upgrade process with 8.18 and Windows 10 April 2018 Update, i would suggest opening a ticket with Dell ProSupport to help understand why the Windows Upgrade process is failing.

Best practice documentation located at "https://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/04/sln298382/dell-encryption-for-windows-best-practices-windows-10-upgrade-migration?lang=en". The documentation states"If the Feature Update is compatible, Dell Encryption will automatically prepare for the Feature Upgrade (wsprobe -z will be automatically be ran, and drivers required in the upgrade process will be injected). A notification will present when Dell Encryption initiates it automatic preparation. This dialog can present very quickly, and may not been seen on extremely fast systems:"
However, I attempted an update from MS-OS1703 and 1709, of the four devices tested, ALL failed the MS-OS update. Such a disappointment, I think Dell tried to cram too many features/functions into the ESSE suite. I have 600 devices all Dell hardware, and managing this suite is a beast!

Hi jaking,
I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues with the Feature Updates. With the various angles that Dell Data Security leverages to attempt to protect your environment, we may need to look into some customized changes for your environment.
If you have these devices still available, would it be possible to open a ticket with our support teams? If you already have a ticket open and active, could you please direct-message me the Service Request # so I can help investigate?
I do appreciate the feedback, and we are striving to make this product as seamless as possible while retaining security that you can depend on.
