OME 1.3 Hangs at Splash Screen

I upgraded from 1.2.1 to 1.3 and everything was working correctly. Now I'm unable to login to the OME Web page, it hangs at the splash screen. Double clicking on the splash screen shows critical errors during the DataCache.LoadCheck(). Any ideas how to resolve this problem? Thanks, Robert

Hi Robert,

Thanks for your post.

Try running "iisreset" once and just check whether the account you have logged on with has been added to OMEAdministrator group.

Also, try the database test with the Dell Troubleshooting Tool on your OME desktop and see what it says.

Keep us posted!

Thanks

Ranveer, After running iisreset only builtin\administrators is in the OMEAdministrators group. Database test showed "Connected to database. User defined databases are OMEssentials" Robert

Robert - if you still have the issue then do try to capture your install log file. You can get it by exporting after clicking the splash. Also look for any errors in the Event Viewer.

If there is not enough information to post here and help discuss, you are encouraged to open a support ticket by calling 800-945-3355.

Robert - the only line in the log that indicates the failure is this below one:

GetEventsRange()

This is likely to be a hardware issue - either available memory or hard-disk space. It could even be the number of devices discovered.

However without access to the system it is hard to determine the root cause accurately. We encourage you to open a support ticket as indicated before.

I'll open a ticket but I've got 23.5GB of free drive space, 3.6GB of available memory and only discovered about 1,200 systems. I installed some Microsoft security updates on 5/6 and 5/7, any chance they caused the problem?

Hi, there.

I've been working with tech support for this same issue.  I made a discovery today.

Here’s what I’ve done:

  • Cleared SilverLight cache - http://nathondalton.wordpress.com/2013/04/25/clear-silverlight-cache/
  • Performed iisreset on OME server
  • Opened OME in Chrome on another workstation – no problem
  • Attempted to open with IE 11 on same workstation – hung (stuck on DataCache load starting)
  • Tried again with Chrome – hung
  • Performed iisreset on OME server
  • Opened OME in Chrome on same workstation – no problem
  • Tried with Chrome three more times waiting five minutes in between tries – no problem
  • Cleared cache on IE 11 on same workstation and tried again – hung (stuck on DataCache load starting)
  • Immediately tried with Chrome – hung
  • Performed iisreset on OME server
  • Tried with Chrome on same workstation – no problem

Something in IE is messing up IIS on the OME server.

Still working on this with tech support,
