Inspiron 20-3052, Bios update, computer will not do anything

So I upgraded my bios because the dell update assistant said I had an update. So now my Dell Inspiron 20 model 3052 will not do anything. The power light comes on and that is it. It stays orange. I have downloaded the iso for it. But even the repair disk isn't working. I have no idea what to even do.

I am anotherica person with this issue.  I have a 3052 and installed the recommended upgrade Sunday night.  Now I just have the amber light and color screens (red, blue, yellow, white). This seems to be a Dell issue. Please keep me in on any updates.

I too had my wife do the Dell update and it has now rendered our Inspiron 20 Model 3052 useless.  Won't power on and is black screened.  Add my list of very upset Dell owners.

add me to the list of 3052s in the same situation. Have to wait and see what follows, assuming Dell will adequately consider the Dell Update results.

You're not alone. I also accepted the Dell Update the evening of the 14th and ended up in the same position as you. The advice about the motherboard solution seems draconian. Let me know if you come up with any progress on the issue and I'll do the same. It would be a shame if Dell doesn't support people injured by their Updates.

Add myself as well... My parents updated theirs over the weekend.  Dell Tech Support said the same - $259+tax to fix it.  I can put the board in myself if they would send them one.  We are close to the 1 year + 6 month timeframe...

I have two that came into my computer store exact same problem after the update and the guy on dell said it was the update that did it but said it would be 48 hours before they could tell me what they would do for the customers. I have a feeling the one outta warrenty is just gonna get screwed and i will be contacting every news station and media outlet i can find to try to get this out there for people to see how this company fixes the mistakes they make.

Ive actually advised them to go with a different option since all they do is surf the net and play games as well as pay bills using a browser.

I helped them purchase a Chromebook so as to not leave them without any computer.

Can you try using a USB/wired keyboard on the system and using the steps below?

* Restart the computer

* Press and hold the CTRL key + ESC key on the keyboard until the BIOS Recovery page appears

* On the BIOS Recovery screen, select Reset NVRAM (if available) and press the Enter key (May not appear on all systems)

* Choose Recover BIOS and press Enter. WAIT. Do not force a reboot or press any other keys

As per the article here

Best regards,

Brad

If anybody tries the wired USB keyboard fix, PLEASE post whether it worked or not!

I suspected as much. The computer recognizes USB devices much too late in the bootup process to do us any good.

I have the same issue, don't know the solution yet, but I can help with the data recovery,To save the files: you can just pull the hard drive out and use a USB to SATA (just do web search if you don't know what that is, you can get them from a lot of places) adapter to xfer your files to another computer if you have one available. You will most likely get some permission errors during the process, just search the web for taking ownership of files and setting permissions through the properties box for the drive/files. There is a manual on Dell's support site and YouTube has videos on the hard drive removal process. The new motherboard might get your PC up and running but, depending on your security and encryption, may or may not boot/load the OS. Good luck.

Same thing, same model, I think it is on W7 Prof. I do IT work for a number of clients, this is one of the client's staff that "followed the Dell Assistant".

The machine was shipped mid Nov 2015, any option on whether I can "squeeze" out a motherboard exchange?
