XPS 730 Air cooled lower chassis shroud missing, cpu cooling assembly fan squaking
Hello,
I received my XPS 730 yesterday, and I opened it up, and I noticed that there is only one fan shroud covering the top fron chassis fan, the bottom front chassis fan is exposed, but if you look at the pictures in the users manual, there is a shround over both fans, top and bottom, in both air and h2c.
Mine is air cooled. I was wondering if it is missing or not supposed to be there? I would want one installed since I find it is very unprofessional to sell a 2.5K system and not put all the parts in it.
Also, my cpu cooling assembly fan is squaking, could the assembly be replaced?
Thanks!

lugo02,
Took me 10 mins with chat, all i did was mention my air-cooled 730 was missing the lower/cpu fan shroud, and i supplied her with the part #'s.
She asked me to take a photo of it missing, and that was all, it's being shipped, i suggest you wait and find a new live chat tech.

Is this applicable to the XPS-720 ???? My XPS-720 seems to be missing fan shrouds for both fans as well.

Nope. The XPS 720 does not come with those fan shrouds.

I just looked at the internal picture of the XPS720, Chris is definitely right. There would be screw holes in the fan brackets if the parts was missing

If you look at the way the shroud sits very close to the front grill, it definitely is functional. Since the fan is mounted several inches from the front, it recirculates some of the internal warmer air rather than fully taking in cooler outside air without the shroud installed. Do you guys agree?

I agree that it takes cooler air instead of the hot air that is in the case and definitely is not for cosmetics only. I also notice in your sepcs that you give up on the creative sound blaster. I found a thread that dell xps 730 is supposed to come with the creative sound blaster gamer and not the audio edition. I am not having problems with my sound card, i just thought that i am going to share it with you.
here is the link to sound card issue: you have to go several pages before you can see the post

2 days? wow.. try overnight.. i ordered it thursday and got it today..
it says monday, it's installed, had to move back big mobo power cable but that was all.
and yeah it helps route the airflow to the CPU better.
Plus, a XPS logo can't hurt?

The reason I asked is that the 720 fans are mounted several inches behind the front grill, and although the fan configuration is slightly different from the 730 model, the cooling efficiency is compromised by the unducted exhaust flow. When I saw the pics of the 730 duct, I had to ask.
Thanks for the quick reply

My fan noise actually went down a tad. Not that it was ever bothersome. I guess it all depends on the lower cooling fan speed. Do you keep yours on auto? I do.
Edit : My front CPU fan is running at 1223 RPM right now. It's pretty quiet overall
