ASM/ME Email Alerts - Requested Target Not Found

Hi,

Background: HIT Kit 4.7.0 on a two-node Windows Server 2012 R2 Hyper-V cluster.  Everything had been working fine until this week.

I have been receiving a lot of email alerts regarding snapshot errors of Requested Target Not Found.  Here's an example of the email alert:

iSCSI login to target '10.80.222.29:3260, iqn.2001-05.com.equallogic:0-af1ff6-187f9dbe8-3a20051136954ecb-vms-2015-02-24-13:14:47.91820.2' from initiator '99.99.99.99:54217, iqn.1991-05.com.microsoft:server.domain.local' failed for the following reason:
        Requested target not found.

Occasionally in iSCSI Initiator, I would refresh the targets and I would see a snapshot pop up under the Discovered Targets with the status of Inactive.

Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?

Thank you.

Hi Don,

I am using ASM/ME to create the snapshots.  Is there an option in ASM/ME to disable that?

Thanks!

We are on firmware 7.1.2.

Oops, I forgot to add that the snapshot is in the Targets for a split second because when I refresh it again after seeing it, it disappears.  So I don't think it necessarily puts the snapshots online...  The email alert makes me think that it randomly attempts to bring the snapshots online.

I actually did not see that option at creation time...

Another thing is when I have ASM/ME open, it takes a long time to finish refreshing...

Oh, we don't use that...  I guess I'll just wait and see if i get any more email alerts!

Have a great weekend and thank you for your help!

Then that's really odd.

I have upgraded the HIT kit to 4.7.1.

What is DPM?

Well, it looks as though HIT Kit 4.7.1 did the trick!  It was odd that it started not that long ago even though it was on 4.7.0 for a while...

Thank you very much for the help!

Here's another update...

I still haven't received any email alerts so that's a success, but when I open the ASM/ME GUI on the cluster node, it's constantly is refreshing (Discovering: Targeted Refresh) and takes a while.  I have tried to restart the ASM/ME service, but that didn't work.  Happen to have any ideas how to resolve this?

Thanks!

I see this in the Event Viewer:

The Auto-Snapshot Manager Task Scheduler failed to create the scheduled Smart Copy set due to the following error

The recent EqualLogic Smart Copy operation scheduled to take place on SERVER at 03/03/2015 09:31:31 AM has failed.  The following errors occurred during the operation: Agent is busy. Check the following conditions:

   - The agent may be executing a lengthy operation. Try again when the operation completes.

   - A wizard is open in ASM. Complete the wizard or simply cancel it.

   - The EqlAsmAgent service may need to be restarted.

Operation was attempted 3 times.

I did upgrade to 4.7.1.

The service was running under the domain/admin so I changed it to local admin account.  However, now I see this error which is a permissions error:

Validation failed for property page 'General'.

The user account that the Equallogic Auto-Snapshot Manager Agent service is run under does not have write permission on \\server\asm_fileshare\

Correct or discard the settings then try again.

Do you know what kind of user/permissions I need to give to that folder?

Sorry, I guess I'm asking a really dumb question, but I'm not sure how to give ServerA (the one with ASM/ME) local admin account permissions on ServerB fileshare...  When I look at the share permissions on the folder, I see "Everyone" and "Domain Admins".  I did try giving "Everyone" full control, but that didn't work.
