Battery Upgrade

Hello

Have a new 3515 Inspiron 15

Wanting to improve available time on battery

It shipped with 11.25V 41Wh G91J0 battery

I dont use normal HDD bay and want to replace battery with 54Wh V6W33, however, it is 15V output

Does the voltage output change matter for the mobo or will the mobo just pull the voltage it needs, thus leading to longer life while off the charger?

I was also interested in 7051L barrel type powerbank, however, I cannot determine if it is compatible with this model (its not listed in the compatibility list on the dell page for the powerbank)

Any confirmation help would be appreciated

thanks,

Welcome to the Dell Community @Kitndavj

You are correct.

Since you have a SMART power system it will "pull" only the "Wattage" required.

As for the powerbank.

If the Barrel end is the same dimentions and the Power output matches or exceeds the system requirments, it should be compatable.

Best regards,

One question first.

As for "Powerbank"???

Are you referring to an "AC Adapter" or an "AC Adapter with built-in battery"???

An "AC/Battery Combo Adapter" when disconnected from an AC power source, will continue to provide power to the system until the battery inside the AC combo adapter is drained.

Then the battery in the laptop will take over.

Thanks U2!

Do you have an opinion on one or the other option? I like both, but only really willing to commit to one… its for a high school student (as some background)

Hi ejn63

thanks for replying

I have the service manuals and the specification manuals, so while it shows 2 types of batteries, it also looks like (in photos I have found online) that they use a different motherboard, so my question still stands… does the voltage matter, as it wasnt an available option to upgrade the battery in the purchasing options either when bought 2 months ago.

Sorry, I was asking do you have an opinion on which option you would make?

swap the internal 41Wh for the 54wh

or

keep the 41Wh, and use the Dell 7051L power bank barrel type

@Kitndavj

Thank you for clarifying.

Of course, both would be best but if only one???

If transporting then using the PB+ you could still charge but you would be luging the PB+ around all the time???

If transporting with the extended battery only, it would be more compact and still lighter???

It seems as the option is yours to decide.

U2
