Cpu upgrade
Presently I have a dell inspiron 1440. Can I replace its current processor with
Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9300 Mobile SLB5J 2.53GHz 1066 12MB Laptop Quad-Core CPU

You'd have to try it - these systems did not ship with Core 2 Extremes, so it's possible you'd wind up with a no-boot.
And even if the CPU does work, these draw more power by far than supported CPUs -- the result will likely be thermal challenges.
