Does someone know how to fix this? It will turn on but makes a funny noise and won't go back to factory settings or let me troubleshoot

You'll need to replace the drive first - then reinstall.  If you need assistance selecting a replacement drive, supply the system model number (i.e., Inspiron N5110, 5521, etc.).

Thank you for your message.

Is the hard drive getting detected in BIOS?  Run a hardware diagnostics by following this link & check if there is any error listed.

You can try to reseat the drive & check if that helps.

I believe it's dead now and you need to buy a new one.

Happened with me when I opened my hard drive out of curiosity and then fixed back after some time. Unfortunately, I stopped working and made the same noise as yours.

I still have HDD with me in hope that someday, I will be able to recover the data on it. :(

Buy a new please.
