Inspiron 5593 - Keyboard keys not working at times

I purchased the new Dell Inspiron 5593, i5 a month back.

Recently i have started noticing issues with few keys in the lower end of the inbuilt keyboard.

Keys such as the spacebar, b, n, right, left, down and 2 in the numberpad aren't working occasionally. It's more like they freeze and require multiple attempts to get them to work. and even then it runs on one tap ( e.g when i tap b once it appears as 'bbbb' on screen.

I tried updating the bios, checking for the status of keyboard through f12 mode. it works fine when i'm troubleshooting as well.

It's really frustrating when i'm constantly working.

@Anonymous

Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

This is exactly what I am experiencing now.  Dell replaced the keyboard under warranty but now will not do anything except charge me to repair the unit.  I'm thinking of sending this to the consumer protection agency  given the run around Dell had played on this.  There are A LOT of people affected.

Yes, I am still experiencing the problem. I honestly think that this model is a lemon.

I had this same problem, and it came up just after my computer went out of warranty.  I tried everything short of replacing the keyboard, which I was hesitant to do because it is expensive and difficult.  I also had seen several people reporting multiple keyboard replacements with the problem returning.  I did open up the computer thinking the check if the battery was bulging or had other problems.  I found the battery was just fine.  When I put the computer back together and turned it on, the driver for my external, wireless mouse automatically reinstalled.  I have had no problems with the keyboard since then, and it has been a few weeks now.  So, if you have this problem and are using an external mouse, try reinstalling the mouse driver.  Apparently it can interfere with things.

Same problem here, this is annoying.  Already reinstalled the driver and restarted many times, but the problem with space n b arrows and 2 on numpad persists. It is a manufacturer problem. Dell send us a response now!

Adding my name to the list.  Have uninstalled HID Event Filter with no lasting effect.  Keyboard works fine at times, then is totally useless at other times.  @DELL-Cares did not provide any information I did not already have (i.e., I am out of warranty).  After purchasing >50 Dell computers for my company over the past 20 years, I am done with Dell.  This level of customer service is intolerable.

Adding my name to the list. Exactly the same problem. Dell have already replaced the keyboard once under warranty.

Dell replaced the PALMREST, not the keyboard, on mine and that appears to so far have resolved the issue.    10 months and still working fine.

Is there any way it can be solved without changing the keyboard? since it seems like it's an issue with ventilation and moisture.

I am facing same issue. Some keys stopped working one year ago and it was still under warranty so I got the keyboard changed. But now again I'm facing the same problem and they are asking me to spend 3500 for the keyboard. It's really frustrating.
