Touchpad issues

Inspiron 14 7430 2-in-1

Inspiron 14 7430 2-in-1

I've been having some major issues with my touchpad recently. This laptop is under a year old, but about 20% of the time, when left idle, my cursor will shake rapidly with an amplitude of 5-10 pixels, and the touchpad will be unusable until the cursor decides to stop shaking again. In general, I've also had periods of time where the trackpad is completely unresponsive to clicks, taps, scrolls, or any type of movement. Any idea what could be cause this, and is there any way I can fix this from home?

In order to resolve laptop touchpad issues you can click here.

To receive assistance from Dell chat support, they need to verify the warranty status and ownership. Then you must troubleshoot with them.  Click the "Get Help Now" icon on the right to start a live chat session. If already out of warranty, click here for the Dell out of warranty offering.
