Assuming wifi is not an option (the system will support that):
You will first need to make sure your system has the antenna leads for a WWAN card. Most systems that ship without one do not have the leads - in which case a USB WWAN adapter is the way to go unless you're willing to replace the display assembly.
The other thing you'll then need is a WWAN adapter that's compatible with your service provider's network, and a SIM card or eSIM for that network.
