Replace memory and install windows
Hi,
I have a Dell 5400 Latitude and would like to replace the SSD.
I found already the instruction, how to remove and install the SSD:
https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-de/latitude-14-5400-laptop/latitude_5400_servicemanual/entfernen-des-m.2-2280-solid-state-laufwerks?guid=guid-d1a7302a-e30a-4fde-9fe5-992444a7bc61&lang=de-de
That´s fine so far.
But how do I get Windows installed?
I created already an 8GB USB stick, but that one don´t find any device.
IS there a trick?

Go into setup (F2 at powerup) and turn the Intel RAID (IRST) to OFF (aka AHCI mode). Then restart the system with the flash drive and the SSD will appear to the installer.

Hello @ejn63
Well, I was no able, to find "Intel RAID (IRST)"
Maybe because the Bios is older?
I have an NIC (IPV4) and NIC (IPV4) as boot sequence.
Can this help?

It should be under System Configuration (look for storage or drives).

Hi, under drivers, all is activated:
In SATA Operation is "AHCI" activated
"Raid On" is not selected.
That sounds a little bit to your initial post.
Do I need to remove the setting in the middle?

AHCI should install Windows without the need for any additional drivers. What OS are you installing and how was the flash drive prepared (ideally, it should be with the MS Media Creation tool).?

Hi, I used the "MediaCreationTool_22H2.exe" from Microsoft.
https://www.microsoft.com/de-de/software-download/windows10
(Direct Link: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=2265055 )
Today I found out, that the USB-Stick is working.
I tested it on an secondary Notebook (Dell Latitude as well)
The secondary notebook shows me this:
The other Notebook shows that:
It´s not possible to find the drives.
Which tool might I use, to reset the drive?

Hi,
it looks like, that the drive is defect. :(
I think I need to start looking for alternat options.
At first I will buy an external case, to test the drive as slave...
I keep you updated, if there are news
Thanks so far
