Alienware M18x-R2 No Boot 3 Beeps
Hello community,
My M18x-R2 is out of warranty (Received the M18-R2 in August 2012 as a replacement and it came with a one year warranty.) I tried contacting the out-of-warranty support, but to no avail. I suppose I'll try again later. SO...
M18x-R2 will not boot. The lights will turn on and fan will kick up. Then it beeps. It will go in 2 counts - beep beepbeep - a total of 3 beeps.
According to the beep codes, 3 beeps: Possible motherboard failure - chipset error(Contact Alienware)
Seeing that I am out-of-warranty, I would appreciate your expert opinions/recommendations on how to resolve my computer-less situation. Thanks in advance.

I had taken some memory out of my other dell laptop which was older that had 1600mhz memory in it and thought I could add it to my new Alienware.
You cannot do this, it did exactly as you described. I took the memory out and it booked again.
Scared the &^%& out of me. After researching a bit it mine needs 1.35v memory which the 1600 corsair I had was not.
Even if you didn't play with the memory I might shut it down take out the battery and let it sit for a few seconds and re-seat the memory.
If that doesn't work replace it with the same stuff that's in it. I would use the same stuff just for troubleshooting issues. If you try another brand or voltage than you can't rule out that incompatibility.
