External hard drive 2TB
I just bought a 2 TB external hard drive that has the capabilities of plugging into a 3.0 (ss) USB port. But unfortunately when I boot up my computer I get the dreaded blue screen of death. So I plugged it into the normal USB port 2.0 and everything is fine. Any suggestions on why it's doing this I don't think it's the portable hard drive because it works in a normal USB port I have the R4 with 30 gig of memory and two video cards. It is a Seagate backup plus desktop drive model SRD0SD0 any help would be appreciated

Hello rayzs!
There is a big possibility that the system is trying to boot from the external hard drive that’s why you are getting the blue screen.
What happen if you plug in the hard drive when the computer is on?

Which brand is the external hard drive?
As well you can try to reinstall the driver of the usb 3.0; you will find it on support.dell.com

It depends in the model of system that you have and if you are running on windows 7 or windows 8,
Just go the device manager and under universal serial bus controllers select the USB 3.0 do right click and uninstalled.
Restart the computer and go to the support website, you can search the driver with your service tag or by the model, download the driver that is called Intel USB 3.0 controller and run it.
As well I will recommend you to check if that external hard drive needs a firmware in order to run properly.
