Optiplex GXI/Win 95//USB - need help setting up

Does OSR2 support USB?

No. There is an update, which can only be installed on top of OSR2,
 called "usbsupp.exe." This update is also known as "OSR2.1."
It has been released to OEMs, and is also available in MSDN.

This patch also contains the "Windows Driver Model" (WDM)
update, which is necessary, so I'm told, for support of all
 features of the new AGP graphics adapters (only supported
by the new LX chipset (Pentium II).

This update will only install on OSR2.

There are two versions of this patch, 4.03.1212, and 4.03.1214.
 The latter version fixes some incompatibilities present in
the former version.  If you have the older version and it has
caused problems, uninstall it and install the newer version.

To enable full USB support in Win95 B & C, you must  install two files, USBSUPP.exe  and USBUPD2.exe

The file USBSUPP.exe is in the OTHER folder on your Windows 95 setup disk.

Thanks for the help. What does this mean on usbman's site:

Install the Motherboard Chipset Specific Drivers that came with the motherboard so that Windows will recognize and communicate with your system. 

Is there something else I need to hunt down and install?

The other 2 files mentioned can be downloaded from usbmans site or gotten of the WIN95 B/C CDROM

 

Win98SE has these WIN95 needs the inf update and the usbsupp files.

Thanks again. For anyone who is curious, I went here

and downloaded Bios Wizard, which told me my chipset, and here

to find out what the recommended infinst is for. (Gotta be cautious!)

Wellllll, I think so. Everything went together without conflict, but the device I was curious about (a camera) requires Win 98 minimum. I guess I need to look around for another device to be sure.

At least I learned some new stuff!

One thing - BIOS Wizard says that DMI and ACPI are not found. What are these, and would a BIOS upgrade to A06 enable them?
