Dell xps m1530 lcd problem :(

So about 2 weeks ago my m1530 was having a display issue where the laptop would start up and have a dim display where you could barely make out the display.  I held the power button and restarted the laptop and the display came back on this time like normal with no problems.  The next day I started my laptop and the display again was dim but this time darker as the day before.  After two times of restarting my laptop the display went back to normal.  The third day I started my laptop and now the display won't show at all.  Tried restarting it multiple times and no change whatsoever.  I tried to shine a light onto the screen to see if possibly the screen was coming on and extremely dim.  Sadly i couldn't see anything except my reflection. I connected my laptop to an external display through vga and it displays perfectly.  I've tried started by holding D +  Power and got the multiple flashing colors until it fully started up and then the screen went back to pitch black.  I replaced the inverter thinking it could of been the problem and there was no change at all. I also checked all display connections to make sure nothing came loose.  I would think the screen isn't the problem since I was able to get the flashing colors.  My next guess would be that it could be the lcd cable may have gone out but I wanted to post my problem and see if anyone would have any advice to what the problem could be before this possibly turns into a parts computer.
