SB522A, stopped working with macOS
I am using the SB522A Slim Soundbar with a P2423DE and C2422HE with a PC and a MacBook Pro. It works fine but has the problem described above. For the Windows PC, there is a solution described below:
Microphone Intermittently Drops on Dell Peripherals Connected to Computers Using the TGL CPU
(Pro Stereo Headset WH3022, Speakerphone SP3022, and the SB552A Soundbar)
Is there a solution proposal for the MacBook Pro?
Thanks
Christian

Dell monitor, Apple FAQ
None of the Dell D, E, G, P, S, SE, Alienware monitors have full macOS support from Dell. As a consideration to macOS users, on some of these monitors we did provide a macOS firmware update.
macOS DDPM "Compatible Systems" does not list any of the P series monitors.
The Dell hardware SB522A Slim Soundbar and P2423DE do not have macOS drivers or macOS support. So no, Dell would not have a solution for microphone dropping on macOS.
Your best course of action would be to start a new thread on the Apple Forums to see if other macOS users can offer any advice or troubleshooting.

Hello Chris M,
thanks for your answer.
1) Regarding the SB522A Slim Soundbar, if I unplug it and plug it in again it works fine. But it is kind of irritating. Maybe a firmware update to the SB522A might fix that issue in the future?
2) The P2423DE is now fully supported by the new Mac version of the Dell Display & Peripheral Manager Version 1.0.0.0010. It works really well.
3) The P2422HE is asked for a firmware update if I connect it using the DDPM to the Mac. So it is not yet supported.
4) The C2422HE (which is a Teams Display) should be supported by macOS, but has the same audio issues as the SB522A (cannot be used after standby - so C2422HE needs to be turned off and on - which is even more irritating than just unplugging the SB522A).
As you can see, I have recently updated my screens from HP to several Dell screens to work with PC and Mac laptops. I am very much enjoying the USB-C connection to the screens, LAN port and the possibility to switch sources via DDM (PC) or DDPM (Mac). So I do not need all those port replicators anymore :-).
Best regards
Christian

@DELL-Chris M there is a new solution.
Firmware Version 3.08.9, A02
Fixes & Enhancements
2. Fixed issue with Mac OS : Microsoft teams hangs up when plug in the device into Mac (M1/M2 chipset), issue happens after Teams App update in Feb 2023
3. Fixed issue with Mac OS : Speaker plays noise (issue happens after updates from Mac OS 13.2)
4. Fix issue: There is pop sound when switching different audio files from Media Player

@CCSPartners
This is very odd. The SB522A Drivers & Downloads page does not list Apple or macOS under, "Operating system". Yet firmware SB522A 3.08.9 (October 13, 2023) does show those macOS fixes. I cannot account for this confusion.

Hi all,
I am having the same issue as the rest, with the annoying cracking sounds happening more than ten times per working day, which I can only solve by unpluging my Dell U2723QE monitor and pluging it back again. I am running MacOS Sonoma 14.2.1 on a MacBook Pro M1 with Dell Display and Peripheral Manager 1.2.0.0054.
@DELL-Chris M, how can we solve this? It seems as if the SB522A 3.08.9 firmware would solve these issues, but, as you have seen, we cannot download it for MacOS, even though it states that several MacOS issues have been fixed. There is no firmware information regarding the sound bar in the Dell Display and Peripheral Manager.
Best regards,

@laionzion
All you can do is find a Windows OS PC, connect the SB522A Soundbar to it. Run the Windows OS SB522A firmware 3.08.9. Then move the SB522A to the macOS PC and retest.
