VLAN shutdown issue

We are using a pair of Dell S6000 switches, running OS 9.13.

I just wanted to check the behaviour of shutdown on a vlan interface. We have a vlan which is in a shutdown state

"Vlan 49 is down, line protocol is down"

We have a mix of tagged and untagged ports. We dont do any routing on this vlan interface.

Whats odd is all devices connected to the switch, either using tagged traffic or the untagged ports can talk to each other.

If the VLAN is shutdown, surely that would stop the traffic, especially any tagged traffic?

Hi,

If you can have downtime rebooting the switch may help. It may be routing the traffic to a different vlan and back and that is why traffic still works, or it is not reporting the port state correctly. Will it let you shutdown and no shutdown the port? Does show vlan provide any different info?

unfortunately I cant really restart the switch, in this case I needed the VLAN to work but just seemed wrong that it was working
