etbwd,
The 169.154 ip address is a generic ip address.
Power off you ips modem router. Also turn off your wireless router (if any) Wait 30 seconds, then turn on your ISP modem/router. Now power on your wireless router.
Restart your computer and then try to connect.
What happens?

etbwd,
Try start, all programs, accessories, and right click on the command prompt, left click run as administrator. Type
ipconfig /flushdns
Also type
ipconfig /release
and restart your computer. When the computer starts and tries to connect, it should find the correct IP address. You can also try using WinSock XP Fix

iv'e a;ready tried turning off the dsl modem-iv'e loged into the dsl modem reset it-iv'e tried different hardware-my isp is velcom.ca and the point i made about the desktop hardware's ip adrress may have been correct-but fell free to explain it being(generic)any help is good-usually if i ask for automatic ip addrss iv'e seen the 169-xxxso this may meen generic...basically when i ping the connection no communication with dns,,,,,ie7flush/dns error....my hardware recieves but will not send-if you look under you own network adaptor the activaty will show both send and recieve i'm certain it has to do with my ip settings if i try to set it auto it COULD be doing something wrong
