Need Some Assistance please

Ok my computer was running slow so i reloaded windows xp and tried to install all the drivers. I thought it did corectly then when i was installing my inter provider it said i did not have a ethernet port (witch i do have one) so ive been broswing the fourms and i have seen alot of people saying theres is also not working due to installing the drivers in teh wrong sequence. So can someone tell me how to uninstall all my drivers so i can do it in the correct order. It would be greatly appriciated. Also please check below and tell me if that is the correct order (i got it off the forums but i just want to make sure)

1. Desktop System Software (DSS) or Notebook System Software (NSS) - A compilation of critical Microsoft updates.
2. Intel Chipset - Helps Windows control system board components and controllers.
3. Video Card - Enhances video performance.
4. Network Interface Card (NIC) - Enables and enhances the network controller.
5. Sound Card - Enables and enhances the audio controller.
6. Modem - Enables and enhances the modem.
7. Wireless Network Card - Enables and enhances the wireless network controller.
8. BlueTooth® Module - Enables and enhances the Bluetooth controller.
9. PCMCIA/Smartcard controller - Enables and enhances the PCMCIA/SmartCard controller.
10. Touch Pad/Track Stick/Pointer - Enhances the pointing device features.
11. Other - Other devices and peripherals such as printers and digital cameras that are connected to the computer.

You have the correct order.  (It is only essential that the first two be installed first.  After that, the order doesn't matter).  If you did not install the first two first, go into Device Manager and uninstall the other devices in your list.  Reboot, make sure the Desktop System software and Chipset drivers are installed, cancel the New Hardware Wizard, and then install all of the other drivers.  Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't.  If it doesn't, then you may have to start all over - reformatting, reinstalling Windows, then installing the drivers in the correct order.

Hi Picchetti,
You connect to the internet with something that comes from outside house.
There are many ways for a connection to be made.
Did you plug your telephone cable into the modem to connect?
If you did then check your modem settings

You didn't say which model computer you have, so I can't point you to the correct download site.  You can find it yourself by clicking on Technical Support at the top left of the forum window, clicking on Drivers & Downloads, then entering your Service Tag or Model number.  Note that some systems do not require the Desktop System Software or Notebook System Software.

Ok still not working i tried skipping the 1st one and downloading the rest in order but the ethernet is still not working.
My model is Dimension 4600 and this is whats happening.
I downloaded all the drivers in order skipping 1 because i dont think i need it or have it.
I downloaded them all from my resource cd
I put in the disk to configure my internet ( i use bellsouth)
It goes through my computer and says i only have a usb port not a ethernet port( but i do have a ethernet port i was using it before i reformatted my computer)
can someone please give me a link to the driver i need to download or w/e because i cant conect to the internet without my ethernet port (cause i only have dsl)
Also when i check what i have installed there is a yellow question mark beside the ethernet listing on it
Please im getting frusterated and if anyone could help that would be great.

If you did not install the chipset drivers before attempting to install the other devices, then you may have to start all over, as I mentioned in my earlier reply.

Yes i did ill tell you what ive done to my computer since i made this post.
1st i made this post asked you and deleted teh drivers and tryed to install them in the right order (dident work)
So then i reinstalled windows xp and downloaded the drivers agian starting with number 2 on the list in my earlier post since i dotn think my computer needs it and its not listed on my resource cd. (dident work)
Then i went to the website you gave me and installed both the first driver said it already exsisted so i replaced it and the 2nd driver just was newly installed.
And now my computer is not conecting to the internet when i try and configure my computer to my internet provider it says i dont have a ethernet port witch i do.

Restart your computer and hit the F2 key immediately.  This should open the BIOS setup program.   Go down and select Integrated Devices and hit the Enter key.  Make sure the Network Interface Controller is enabled.  Then boot into Windows.  Right click My Computer and select Properties from the drop-down menu.  Click on the Hardware tab then on the Device Manager button.  Click the + sign next to Network Adapters and see if your ethernet network adapter is listed there.   Report back what you find.

ok i did what you said and when i hit f2 everything you told me to check was enabled then when i went to my computer devices there was a yellow questionmark symbol beside other devices and it had the ethernet controller on it when i clicked the + sign i double clicked that and it says the driver wasent installed for it but i dont see how thats possible when i selected everythign off my resource cd to download it so i have a dimension 4600 and i need a driver for the ethernet controller.
