FireWire 400 PCIe
I have a Dell Optiplex 780 and want to transfer recordings from my Canon Optura 50 camcorder to my computer. I have a video cable that fits the camcorder but no firewire port on the Dell 780. I purchased the 2+1 FireWire 800/400 PCle Combo Host Card from Vantec but it would not fit into the open expansion slots on my Dell 780.There are two open slots.
The video cable from the camcorder fit into the firewire 400 Port (6-Pin).
Where can I find a firewire card with 400 port 6-Pin?
Thanks

It sounds like you are trying to transfer video recording from the camcorder to pc using a digital video cable. Is the recording on tape or memory card?
you said the Vented 2+1 FireWire 800/400 PCle Combo Host Card does not fit 780 slot? Why do you say that? The ventec card is PCIex1. https://www.vantecusa.com/products_detail.php?p_id=130&p_name=2%2B1+FireWire+800%2F400+PCIe+Combo+Host+Card&pc_id=13&pc_name=Firewire&pt_id=4&pt_name=Add-on+Cards#tab-2
780 has a PCIex16 slot, which accommodates PCIex1, 4, or 16 cards. the Ventec card should be able to fit in this slot.
You can use a PCIe x1 card, or a PCIe x4 card in a PCIe x16 slot. A shorter PCIe card works fine in a longer slot. On PCIe X1, X4 and X16 slots, the first 18 pins are all wired the same.
PS If you have a 780SFF, the other “white” slot is PCI (older tech).

Anything in the X16 slot is interpreted as a Video Card.
You may also be required to DOWNGRADE to Windows 8.1 in order to use the Legacy Firewire driver
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2970191
http://www.microsoft.com/download/details.aspx?familyid=e488cb91-f865-41bc-b7e6-8cd7d79d1e67
The 780 does have 3.3v 32 bit 33mhz conventional PCI slots that can be enabled in bios. Cards must be UNIVERSAL PCI 2.2 or better like Adaptec AUA-3020

IEEE 1394a FireWire Controller Card for Dell OptiPlex 740 / 980 Desktops / Precison T3400 / T5500 / T7500 Workstations / Vostro Desktop
Manufacturer Part# C9214
Dell Part# 341-6116

The other one that works fine with TI chipset is from La CIE

This disables onboard video and is an unsupported configuration for Optiplex 745 755 760 780 360 960 380 980 390 790 990 etc.
If anything is displayed onboard vga will say
System halted!

To attach the monitor cable to the add-in graphics card:

No. The Unsupported Video mode is in the BIOS.
You cannot use any card in the X16 slot other than a video card.
Absolutely nonsense question as Firewire Video is not supported in DOS or Linux.

Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controllers are supported in OSX and Windows but not in the latest versions.
There was a disagreement with TI over royalties for the drivers so both APPLE and Microsoft dropped support for firewire. All new video cameras are USB3. This is also why the Legacy driver is needed for firewire video cameras.
Microsoft also stopped supporting Movie Maker and removed it from future versions of windows 10 along with legacy directx 9 and 10 drivers etc.
They also removed Mpeg codecs and Windows Media Center.
Windows Live Essentials 2012 is no longer available for download and install into Windows 10.

Thanks for your reply and information. I was trying to insert the card in the shorter white slot.
