Adding an Additional Hard Drive with Raid 1 Configuration?
Hi All,
I already have a Raid 1 configuration on my first 2 hard drives. now I wanted to add 2 more HDD as a separate Raid 1 configuration as well. I tried plugging the 2 Hard Drives but it was not seen by window.s
Should I create another Virtual Disk ?
HDD 0 and HDD 1 uses a SAS Drive
HDD 2 and HDD 3 uses an SSD Drive
HDD 2 and HDD 3 is suppose to be used on Data while HDD 0 and HDD 1 is for our Applications

Hi Brian,
You are correct, you'll need to create another RAID volume for the added drives. Once that is created, Windows should then see them in Disk Management and you'll be able to format the virtual drive for use. In order for windows to see those drives directly, they;d have to be set to non-RAID, which doesn't seem to be what you're wanting to do. The easiest way to create the new array is to use OpenManage Server Administrator, if you have it installed.

Thank you Dylan,
I was able to do so by doing the following:
- Open Manage Software (login of course!)
- Storage -> PERC H710 (Raid Card) -> Connector 0 -> Enclosure -> Physical Disk
--- This is to check the disks are physically detected. and to write down which physical disk I need to use.
- Then I went to Storage -> PERC H710 (Raid Card) -> Connector 0 -> Virtual Disk
- Go Create a Virtual Disk Wizard.
- Used Advanced
- Follow the instructions directly to add the new Virtual Disk. (Set a Raid, Select which physical disk, Set a Name, Policy etc...)
Once the virtual disk was added. It was detected on the server already and windows would be able to detect it as a 2nd disk.

Hi,
I have a RAID 1 configuration with 2 2TB HDDs on a T330. The server has PERC H330 RAID controller.
I just want to add additional 4 TB of storage on the server. No need this 4 TB to be mirrored and/or striped. Simply said, more storage without making any changes to the current RAID 1 setup.
Kindly advise how this can be done.
