405-AAES RAID
Hello everyone, I hope I'm posting in the right spot. We are looking at purchasing a MD1420. It will be used to expand the storage on a R540 and we plan on installing the 405-AAES in the server to connect it. The R540 has a H730P and I know the 405-AAES doesn't have any kind of RAID controller on it. My question is can I use this card in the R540 and use the PERC to setup a RAID array with the disks in the MD1420?

Hi @taglerocktech,
I gave a search on 405-AAES, it is compatible with R540 and MD1420.
But 405-AAES is only a 12GB SAS, which is not RAID capable (perhaps you already know), but you will need H840 to have RAID capable for MD1420. You will not be able to use the exisiting H730P in R540 to setup RAID.
