ME3220I, adding host
Hi All,
I am facing an issue with adding host to ME3220I which used to be working fine.
We purchased some new Dell servers, installed vMware ESXi 7, now I cannot add them back to ME3220I.
I have their initiators from vCenter, added to Host Mappings, added iSCSI server accordingly in the Dynamic Discovery, rescanned storage, nothing happened.
Have I missed something? any help/ advice would be appreciated.
Regards

Hello,
Something about adding hosts to ME may have been overlooked. Could you please check as below articles here?
Add hosts to a host group https://dell.to/2ZBffbs;
add host-group-members https://dell.to/3d5J1br
to add host to an already existing host group: right click initiator and choose to add to host>then just type the name of your new host in the box that opens>right click on your new host + initiator entry and select map initiator. Match the host to the mapping of the group you are trying to join as a member.>right click on your new host + initiator entry and select join group, select your group
Let us know how it goes!

Thank you Erman for the response.
I worked it out, it was iSCSI server IP address, once I added the second IP address, all Virtual Disks appeared in the Datastores.
Once again thanks a lot

Hi @Dell-ErmanO
As I mentioned once I added the second IP address which is from the other RAID controller module (in slot 1) I started to see all datastores, however MD3220I gives me a warning below
How can I fix this warning please?
thanks and regards,

Hi,
You may need to redistribute the virtual disks. To redistribute virtual disks:
1. Open Modular Disk Storage Manager (MDSM)
2. Click on the Support tab
3. Select Manage Raid Controller Modules
4. Click on Redistribute Virtual Disks

Hi
Thanks for the quick response. I've done a couple of times, it went ok for a bit, then the warning came back.
I don't have the Support tab, however I went Storage tab, Virtual Disks, Advance, Redistribute Virtual Disks.

On the Vmware host is the MPIO pathing policy set? Is the firmware up to date? https://dell.to/3EjVeFy We have not validated it with ESXi 7 and that may be an issue.

Hi @DellEMCSupport
Yes in the vMware the MPIO pathing policy was on Round Robin.
I managed to upgrade the NVSRAM firmware from your previous link (thanks for that) but the other I cannot seem to be able to, the current firmware is 07.84.53.60.

Hello @ctvu1,
You may need to clear the error before being able to update the firmware. Is the error still present in the PowerVault?
Regards.

Thank you @DellEMCSupport for the link which helped me update the firmware, it took me a while to complete. However the issue of "Virtual disk on preferred path" was about the iSCSI Host Ports which were conflicted with the existing IP addresses, once I reconfigured the IP addresses, the warning has gone.
Thanks a lot once again guys.
Kind Regards
