[ME4024] Recreate disk group
Hi,
I have made an error in configuring a disk group with the wrong RAID level and need to recreate this. In the current config, I am not able to add HDDs to expand the volume. I need to know in what order I need to delete the RAID level (or disk group), so that I can recreate it to the correct one.
Current config:
- Virtual Disk Group (RAID5)
To be configured:
- Virtual Disk Group (ADAPT)
Thanks in advance

Hi, After you create a disk group using one storage type, the system will use that storage type for additional disk groups. To switch to the other storage type, you must first remove all disk groups.
in your case as I understand, you need to remove RAID5 Virtual Disk Group and reconfigured Virtual Disk Group ADAPT
Please check these articles, "How to Create a Virtual Disk Group with ME Storage Manager GUI " https://dell.to/3Br55su.

Hope that helps!

Hello @Roland v. t Kruijs,
Just to make sure, the new CSV that you're moving the VM storage to is not in the same disk group right?
Yes, you need to disconnect the CSV from the cluster, un-map the volume from the host and create the intended disk group configuration.

Hi,
I understand your approach and will let you know what the outcome is. But one last thing, do I need to disconnect the volume (MPIO) from the servers or can I just let them be connected?
with regards,
Roland

Maybe I should have explained the config better in detail sorry for that...
The ME4024 acts as the storage for our Hyper-V Cluster, using MPIO to connect to the volume. Two nodes are configured, using volume mappings. I am in the process to move the VM storage onto another CVS within the cluster, so I can rebuild the ME4024. Hence my question, if I should disconnect the CSV (ME4024) from the cluster and then rebuild the disk group.
