PowerVault Controllers, can they be interchanged?

Can PowerVault controllers be interchanged, such as replacing a 6GB controller with a fiber controller etc.?

Could a controller from a MD3X00 be interchanged with a MD3X20 etc.?

Thanks ! ! !

Hello @iTechnical,

Normally yes, but that would depepend on the MD model and the initial configuration. Do you have more information about which controllers do you need to interchange?

Regarding your second question, yes you should be able to interchange the MD3X00 controllers with MD3X20 but you will need to avoid the drives going locked down by initializing them.

I currently have the MD3200 with two model E02M-001 controllers. Could I use different controllers in this MD3200, possibly fiber controllers?

Could the E02-001 controller be installed in a MD3220 or other enclosure that would allow me to have 24 HDs vs. the 12 HDs that I currently have with the MD3200?

BTW, I am in the process of installing all new drives for an initial setup so I would expect this would not cause any issues.

Hello,

The MD32x0 platforms only support SAS EMMs. I looked at each part number listed and all were SAS options. It looks like you can choose between 2GB and 4GB options. The part number I see for the 4GB EMM is JYTHW. The part number for the 2GB is N98MP. The E02 string you have listed is labelled on several EMMs, so I can't say which you may have at present.

Please let me know if this helps.
