PowerVault ME4 large-virtual-extents
When talking about virtual (not linear) storage, the CLI guide has a large-virtual-extents option both at new volume creation time and also configurable at run time. This option is disabled by default and as far as I can tell it is not exposed in the GUI (and not referenced anywhere in the Administrator's Guide).
The description for the option is:
for a virtual volume, this sets whether the system will try to allocate pages in a sequentially optimized way to reduce I/O latency in SSD applications and improve performance
Explained like this it sounds like something that could have beneficial effects and no downsides, but it is also disabled by default.
Does anyone has real-world experience with this option? When should we consider using it in production?

Hi @Luca_FWS,
We don't have any documentation on deployment if large virtual extents is recommended to be enable, since it's disabled by default. Usually, if there is any performance issue and it's being analyzed by engineering, then probably they might look into enabling it, I'm assuming.
But hey, you're here looking for public community opinion, I'll probably just leave this post monitored and wait for anyone who can provide any ideas on your query.
