TL2000 replacement drive

I think I need a replacement drive for my TL2000 LTO4 SAS.  It will do small backups but when a backup is near the tape capacity it fails.  Using Backup Exec and they claim it is a bad drive.

It took half a dozen calls to Dell to get anyone to call me back and they keep quoting me tapes.  They don't seem to know what a tape drive is.  They finally gave up and told me all drives for TL2000s are discontinued.  I would like to upgrade the drive if possible.  Does anyone know where I can find part numbers or someone at Dell to help?

Hi,

Sorry that you had a hard time getting the part numbers for the tape drives. Here are the part numbers for the different drives. The TL2000 is discontinued so you may need to get these from a third party.

LTO-4 330-BBDB

LTO-5 47C98

LTO-6 183KW

LTO-7 8M5F0

Apparently there are a bunch of different part numbers since my IBM LTO4 drive in it now is a different part number.  This at least gives me something to go on.  Thanks!

sorry for the late reply.

If you upgrade the drive to a newer model, remember the following  LTO6 drives will read and write to LTO6 and LTO5 tapes , it will only read LTO4 tapes. LTO6 drives will not read any LTO3 or LTO2 tapes
