7680 running very hot. All these laptops are new. I have 10 users plus complaining about it

This issue is affecting all 7680. All the users complain about the working stations been running too hot. They said that it is impossible to use them without and external keyboard. they cannot use them if they are not connected to a docking station. If there any solution for this situation.

To receive assistance from Dell chat support, they need to verify the warranty status and ownership. Then you must troubleshoot with them.  Click the "Get Help Now" icon on the right to start a live chat session. If already out of warranty, click here for the Dell out of warranty offering.

If multiple users are experiencing overheating issues with their new laptops, especially if they are the same model, it could indicate a systemic problem that needs to be addressed. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and mitigate the overheating:

1. **Check for Dust and Debris:** Over time, dust and debris can accumulate in the laptop's vents and fans, obstructing airflow and causing the laptop to overheat. Ensure that users regularly clean their laptops using compressed air to remove any dust buildup.

2. **Verify Proper Ventilation:** Ensure that users are using their laptops on flat, hard surfaces that allow for proper ventilation. Using laptops on soft surfaces like beds or couches can block airflow and lead to overheating.

3. **Update Device Drivers and Firmware:** Ensure that all laptops have the latest device drivers and firmware updates installed. Manufacturers often release updates to optimize performance and address issues such as overheating.

4. **Monitor CPU and GPU Usage:** Use task manager or third-party monitoring software to check CPU and GPU usage on the laptops. High usage levels may indicate that certain applications or processes are causing the laptops to work harder than necessary, leading to overheating.

5. **Limit Background Processes:** Encourage users to close unnecessary applications and background processes that may be running on their laptops. This can help reduce the workload on the CPU and GPU, thereby reducing heat generation.

6. **Consider Thermal Paste Replacement:** In some cases, the thermal paste applied to the CPU and GPU during manufacturing may not be optimal. Consider contacting the manufacturer or a qualified technician to replace the thermal paste with a higher-quality thermal compound.

7. **Adjust Power Settings:** Modify power settings on the laptops to reduce performance when not needed. Lowering the maximum processor state in the power settings can help reduce heat generation during light usage.

8. **Contact Manufacturer Support:** If the overheating issues persist despite these troubleshooting steps, consider contacting the manufacturer's support team for further assistance. They may provide additional guidance or offer solutions such as warranty repairs or replacements.

By addressing these potential causes of overheating, you can help alleviate the issue for your users and ensure that their laptops operate within safe temperature ranges.
