       Hi to All,
When I open Program files on my PC one of the first programs listed is Abby FineReader 6.0 Sprint ? I have no idea if i need this program or not ,I do not have any kind of sprint service ,I am not sure if this was just some preloaded bloatware from Dell ? I already have Acrobat Reader ver7.0 (just upgraded from 6.0) and my reason for this post is to see if you think its OK for me to delete off system .In the readme this application apprently has something to do with scanning ,however I do not have a scanner phone#access ,I have a Dell printer a Photo 944 All in One ,which came with its own software ?  When ever I need to send a copy of a document I simply sent it as a attachment in a email ! Thanks in advance to those who reply .
                            HAPPY HOLIDAYS ,Gumba

ABBY came with your all-in one scanner. It is an OCR program that reproduces what you scan into editable text. It was free so its value may not be that much, however you may have a use for it. Click on its listing under "programs" and see the "Read Me" section

Gumba,

This program is usually part of the software package that comes with a scanner or an All-In-One printer.  It permits your scanner to actually recognize text in a scanned document.  The most recent version of this program is version 8.0.  Here is a link to folks who make this software:

You can uninstall it if you wish or if you do not think that you will have any need for it.

I am getting a message from my Dell 926 printer in scan mode. The message says that their are some corrupt files and that I need to reinstall finereader? I tried to reinstall a program Abbyy Reader 6.0 the I think came with my system and it also wont load. I get the message that the needed cd is not present. What the heck is going on???

elroto,

To reinstall Abbyy Fine Reader, try following the instructions below. If using Windows 7, install in the Compatibility mode

As for scanning, if you have the disk that came with the printer, then insert the Printer disk and stop it from running. Go to My Computer and double click on it. Look for the drive with the Dell disk in it. Right click on it, left click explore. Look for the OCR Folder. In the OCR Folder, there is an Abbyy Folder. right click on setup.exe, that's in the Abbyy Folder and left click run as administrator. This will install the OCR program.
